I am a foster parent and because of this board and all the help you've not only given to me, but to everyone - I really want to become a certified tech. I ran this by my caseworker, the foster assoc I work with, and some supervisors.
They are THRILLED and had NO idea there was even a course like this! One of the supervisors said once I am certified she will have me do a class for foster parents and also one for county transporters and intake workers. She is even going to see if they'll pay me to do so
! The assoc will even pay for the class for me. They also want to do yearly checkups to be sure new workers and foster parents and priors are using seats correctly - so this will be an ongoing thing.
I also get credit for training hours doing this - extra bonus!
Regardless if I get paid I am so excited. This is so up my alley. Now I need to find when they offer then next class here and hopefully it's more like spring/early summer - easier for me to find child care then.
