Need a family car...but anything cheaper out there?

First of all, I seriously lust after the 2011 Honda Odyssey. The cost is scaring me away from it, but it might be our best option. We need a car that will fit 3 adults, 3 children in car seats (one RF), their stuff, and occasionally a 40 lb dog. I was thinking about a Mazda 5 but after reading reviews and a recent thread here I'm wondering if we've already outgrown it.

Right now we have a 2008 Cobalt that we are keeping as my commuter car. It's a snug 3-across but it works. I would really, REALLY like to avoid a 3 across scenario in our new car though because I do value my sanity. We have been borrowing a relative's truck but I am anxious to give that back and I really don't want to take it with us when we move an hour and a half away. My sister is also moving with us and she doesn't drive or have her own car so that means we will need to fit 3 adults (all about 5'10") and a 6 year old in a booster, an almost 4 year old in a FF Radian, and a 16 month old RFing in a Radian when we all need to go somewhere.

So my question is, what are my alternatives? I want something safe...and while I could get an older Honda Ody I'd hate to do that because I love all the updates for 2011. But a earlier Honda Ody is still much cooler than what we're used to. :p Am I missing some great vehicle that seats at least 6 and isn't more than the new Ody?
