As you may know I am in australia where out seats are crap and our laws are lax.
There are no RF seats beyond 12kg (26lb) or 5 point harnesses beyond 18kg (40lb)
My son hit 12kg at 12mths and my nearly 6yo is over 18kg, and so far has proven to be unable to sit in a booster correctly, even on short trips. Booster training in my mums car has so fat been unsuccesful, though he had no choice but to use one.
I decided to import 2 radians, so my (then 12mo, now 14mo) could RF and my (then 5yo, now nearly 6 and still not booster ready) could be harnessed).
While I'm comfortable that my decision is in their best interests safety wise, I am concerned about the ramifications should the worst happen. $500 on the spot fine and loss of demerit points if pulled over, if in an accident all insurances void, and should injury or death occur while in their radians, criminal negligence charges could be laid.
So what would you do if you were me, turn a 12mo FF ad a 5yo in a booster when not booster ready, or import and possibly risk the above?
FWIW, whatever the replies won't change my mind, as I'm 100% confident my children are the safest they can possibly be, which is paramount.
