Okay, so a fellow car-seat.org member was kind enough to meet me a Honda dealership so I could see how some seats would puzzle in the new Odyssey. The middle, 2nd row is quite an interesting situation for car seats. I tried a Blvd70 next to the Frontier and a Radian. They both pose some issues with the install. I'm trying to figure out what seat would be a good option in the middle, or maybe I'll just take the seat out all together once I get the van.
Okay.. here are the pics.
Someone had asked if the short belt path worked... It does... This install wasn't super tight b/c we weren't going anywhere but I imagine it would be fine with another few minutes to figure out how to the best install with the Frontier85.
Blvd70 in the center position. The seat hangs off a bit on both sides. Not enough to equal 20%... but I'm thinking this is likely an issue. The install was not rock solid. It seems close to 1" of movement. I think with more time, adjusting the seat back etc, a good install could likely be achieved. The LATCH adjusters seems to be almost as tight as they would go though. The seatbelt install was tricky b/c the middle seat was in the forward position and so the belt angle was a little funky next to the Frontier. The belt was handing down barely outside of the Frontier headwings. Perhaps with the seat in the back position it would be better. I was just trying to make sure the other outboard seat could be flipped forward for ingress and egress.
Here's a pic of the Radian in the middle. It fits just perfectly on the middle seat. Of course I forgot the RFing boot and it is questionable as to whether or not it will fit b/c the middle seat is more narrow toward the seat bight. When you are twisting a buckle stalk, can you twist just a half or must it be a full turn? Either way, for the middle seat, I think it is a moot point, b/c if I remember correctly that middle one cannot be twisted. The Radian installed decently but the leather is really slippery. I'm going to go back to test it with the boot when DH test drives the van this weekend.
Here are two pics of a Parkway SG in the back of the van. An adult could sit on either side of the seat thought it seemed more comfy with the seat outboard and the adult in the middle.
