Seats in China

Anything good over there, I am looking to recommend something to my DD teacher to get for her new grand baby coming soon who's mother lives in China and will be living there. Anything good or should she buy here and ship / take with her when she goes something from here. Are there any odd considerations to take into consideration with vehicles over there that are differences from here?

China is mostly lap babies or ride Latin style as I refer it to after spending lots of time in Mexico. That would be without car seat, without seat belt and normally hanging halfway out the window:)

FWIW we ship mostly Britax Hi-Way over there since it's a compact seat which fits almost any car larger or small. This seat is rear facing to 55 lbs. and normally last until age 4-4.5 years or so.

Could you find out what kind of car the baby would be riding in other there? Even better, if you could ask the teacher to find out if it's equipped with LATCH, has manually locking seatbelts, etc.

I'm in Asia, and in my experience, most vehicles don't have any accomodations for car seats, but sometimes a person has a model that does.

Back to add that a convertible seat with lock-offs, like the True Fit or the bigger Britaxes (though I know zilch about the new versions) are probably a better idea than a seat without them. Just in case the seatbelts are merely ELRs.
