Okay to add body pillows?

We ordered two Britax Roundabout 50 seats for our twin girls. Overall, I'm very happy with the seats, but sometimes the babies look uncomfortable to me. We tend to be in the car a lot on the weekends, and I wish I had gotten a Britax model that had the extra body pillows. Does Britax make body pillows that I can add? Or is this a no-no?

My other alternative is to get two new car seats, and put the Roundabouts in my husband's Nissan Murano as backups. (We have a Radian 65 in there also; hopefully I can fit three across with the Roundabouts.) I was looking at the Marathon 70, but the True Fit looks like a well-built carseat that is comfortable also (and more affordable!).

Appreciate any input, thanks!

Nothing behind baby or under straps that didn't come with the seat. You can use rolled up receiving blankets on the sides.

Can you give us more info or a photo? What cars do you have? What seat do you have? Age, weight of kids? Why don't they look comfortable?

The infant padding in the True Fit is very nice and the seat does fit newborns well. You didn't mention how large your twins are, so they may or may not be able to use it if you did decide to get different seats. Even if they can't, the TF is still a very nice seat. I have two and love them!

They are 16 months old, and 20.6 and 20.8 lbs. They like to nap in the car, and their necks look uncomfortable when they lay to the side. Also, it seems like they may sleep better if they had a body pillow or something to support them on the side of their torsos.

Thanks for the tips on the receiving blankets. Would it be okay to use an infant head pillow to support their necks, or not, since technically that would put something behind their heads?

Are they rear facing (RF) or forward facing (FF)? At just 16 months old they're much safer & much more comfortable being RF than FF. If they're FF turning them back to RF will help alot with any head slumping of sleeping problems they're having.

They make LOOK uncomfy, but really, they are fine. As adults, yeah, that would suck, but as kids, they are just fine.

What Judi said... UNLESS they are forward-facing, which would make them more upright and likely uncomfortable.

Your twins would be much safer and more comfortable sleeping while rear-facing, if they aren't already. If they are, that's great! Rolled receiving blankets tucked along their sides would be fine or alongside their heads, but nothing under them or under the straps. The infant head support pillows that go under the head are not approved (except the ones that come WITH some seats). Feel free to post a picture of them in their seats (you can blur their faces for privacy if you wish) so that we can see if we notice something that might make a difference.

Please do let us know their age/weight and whether they are rear-facing or forward-facing. If it comes down to selecting new seats, this information would be necessary for us to recommend something else. :)

Thanks, everyone! I had them RF at first, but had difficulty with the install, and I caved into "family pressure" to have them FF. After spending awhile on the boards, I am going to make them RF once more. (I already made an appointment with a tech next week.) I realize now that especially with their weight (they're only in the 20% percentile), they should be RF for quite awhile.
I bet the recline with RF will help them to sleep better too. Thanks for the advice!

That is great that you are going to rear-face them again. Remember the bare minimum is 2 years and 30lbs, but keeping them rear-facing to the maximum the seat allows is best, which ideally is 3-4 years.
