Rear-adjust Snugride 22 - not that bad!

I picked up a rear-adjust SR22 at Target when I bought the Snugrider travel system on clearance for $35. I really only wanted the stroller frame (to use with my SS1), so the SR22 has sat in my garage since June.

Well, I started back to work last week and installed our Roundabout in DH's car so he can take the baby to daycare and drive the kiddos around on the Saturdays that I work. But DH doesn't like the RA. No sunshade, and Evan kept falling asleep in the car, and then awakening when DH moved him to the stroller.

(Now, the obvious thing to do is buy a second base for the SS1, but I don't want to spend $60 on a base for this old seat - it expires next year.)

So I thought I'd give the SR22 a try in my car. Honestly, it's not bad! My tall baby (26.5 inches at four months) has plenty of growing room, and I found the straps quite easy to adjust. Evan seems really comfortable, too. The only problem is that this particular seat has a very skimpy sunshade compared to the SS1, but I have tinted windows in my car so it's not too bad.

So one of us will now use the SR22 - not sure if I'll keep it in my car (Honda Odyssey) or move it to DH's car (Subaru Forester). I'm leaning towards keeping it in mine since I know I'll adjust the straps correctly - DH seemed a little put off by the rear-adjust.

Here's the boy in his new seat:

He is SO cute!

And yeah, I personally don't think it's that bad. It just doesn't last as long, and it's more prone to misuse for parents who don't read the manual and such.

By the way, did I mention how cute he is?!

Aw, thank you!

I don't think I would generally recommend a rear-adjust seat, but I will no longer cringe when people I know go for the inexpensive Graco travel systems from Walmart or Target that always seem to come with this seat. It's not nearly as tricky to keep the harness adjusted correctly as I thought it would be.

He is adorable. You and I were due on the same day I believe. My DS2 was born one day earlier than yours. We had a SR22 at first but we sold it. I was just wondering if he would still fit in it. DS2 is leggier that DS1 but still tall. I'm thinking he might have still fit. Glad you have the seat to use.
