Baby carrier

Is there in existence a baby carrier that faces forward (or to the side) but has a more rigid type seat that sits them at 90 degrees and the legs come out straight forward, not spread? DS3 cannot tolerate a sling with legs folded or a carrier with legs spread facing me. Thanks!

Have you tried back carries? Because there isn't a carrier on the market right now that will support that. Have you tried any hip carries? This way their legs are only spread around your side....

DS3 has Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Brittle Bone Disease) and has short, bent femurs, so he can't have much pressure on the legs and I think the leg spreading puts his femurs/hips in an uncomfortable position. I have been able to use the Ergo on my front with him sitting sideways for a short time on a hike and he seemed pretty comfortable with that, but I know that's not the way it was intended and I don't want to cause any harm.

Since that's not developmentally a good plan for *most* kids (although I understand why it is for your son,) I don't think they make or market such a thing.

The only two options that might work for you are a framed backpack style carrier, like a Kelty, intended for hiking, or there may be some sort of carry in a wrap that would work for him. You can try thebabywearer.com ... those ladies are to carriers what c-s.org is to carseats, and may be able to help you select something appropriate.

Thanks! I'll look into it! :)
