I want to put the seats in a 1990 silverado. I have a nautilus and a marathon (RF). I cannot find a manual and I have no idea if this is doable. Not sure if it is even allowed. Single cab.

HELP!

The back seat of any vehicle is always safer, so if there's another option I'd explore that. If not I can give you some suggestions to help make the situation as safe as possible.

Does the front seat look like this?

You don't have a passenger airbag. That's good for car seats.

First you need to check your seatbelts. If it looks like the above seat I'm pretty sure that you have sewn-on buckles. If that is the case then you can only install the seat *if* they lock when you pull them out and let them back in. This is called an automatic locking retractor. You can install a seat in the center if it has a lap belt with an adjustable seat. (There will be a tail of seatbelt that you pull to tighten.)

So, post back and let us know about your seatbelts- or perhaps someone else here has dealt with a 1990 Silverado and would know. If you're good to go with seatbelts there are a few other things we can look at.

Not exactly the same, but DH has a 1996 Silverado. His passenger seatbelt is sewn on but it is a switchable retractor, so I could install a seat there if I had to. You just pull the lap belt all the way out to switch it to locking mode, and feed it back in. The center seat is a lap belt with a tail, so I could there, too, but I wouldn't put a RF seat there because the driver does have an airbag.

If that's the case then I'd put the Rfing MA on the passenger side and the Nautilus in the center. If this is going to be more than a one time thing I'd also contact GM about retrofitting TAs. My LATCH manual says that you can on the 90 MY.

Also, anytime kids are in the front seat it's a comprimise. It's just not the best thing. So, I'd suggest it only if it's truly the only option. Look for other solutions and use it as a lst resort.

I have a 1990 GMC pickup, its extended cab but I have to put certain seats there, or a seat there for certain child configurations etc. It is sewn on, and it has ALR seatbelts. The middle is a locking latchplate (I think thats the correct term) and it has long, rigid belt stalks.

I could install an EFTA there like a dream because of the base, I bet the marathon will fit nicely for the same reason.I can only install a complete air, avenue, radian in the rear seat because the belt stalks arent like that.

Every seat Ive tried FFing has fit like a dream as well because the belt path is higher. I havent tried a nautilus but Im betting it wont fit int he middle as well as the marathon would, I can fit a true fit or efta center RFing but FFing there is no shoulder room for me whatsoever and im only 4'8" so not a big person.
