Maestro for a 40lb toddler?

I'm asking for a friend of mine. She is thinking of getting a new seat for her 3 1/2 year old and passing his Radian down to his younger brother. The 3 1/2 year old is 40lbs already. Would the Maestro be likely to get him to a safe booster age? It only harnesses to 47 pounds right? Does it have the head slump issues that the Nautilus has? He still sleeps in the car. He's only about 40" tall.

I know she'd need a dedicated booster after the Maestro, but she has another kid to pass the Maestro on to (though probably not needed since her other seat is a Radian) and it breaks up the cost somewhat for her.

If I weren't planning to use it as a booster, I'd be tempted to swing the extra $20 for a True Fit on sale to get the extra weight for a shorter child who is on the heavy side. Has she measured his torso height? I'd take that into consideration as well.

Oh that might be an idea, I'll mention it to her. I don't know his torso height, but he sat in my daughter's Radian rear facing for a drive and we didn't have to adjust the straps. She is just over the second from bottom (I believe, though maybe it's third from bottom, I can't remember now), and he was just under the next one up. She's almost as tall as him but her height is mostly in her legs.

ETA: We were just out for a bit and I checked, and she's just over the third from top slots, so he was about a half inch to an inch under the next ones up from there. Not sure if that's helpful or not as far as his height. :) He is forward facing though.

That does help, actually. If he's just under the 4th slots, his torso height is shorter than my 26 month old who is barely 30lbs soaking wet. My son would use the second set of slots on the Maestro so it sounds like height-wise this child has plenty of growing room. I guess it really depends on whether his mom thinks he will gain 7lbs before he's mature enough to sit in a booster.
