Ride in the car without installing his seat.
I had to go pick up my mom, my dad's car was blocking the driveway. No car seats in it today. Had to take the little guy with me (he'll be 4 on the 30th). Didn't want to install his seat. Yup, bad, lazy 34 week pregnant mommy whose back hurts and it was hot out!
So, I put him in his brother's RSTV (he just reaches the 50 pound limit for the large and has an INCREDIBLY long torso (size 6-7 shirts and size 4T pants ). I was impressed with the fit, although I think a small might be better suited to him right now. Let him ride the mile to my mom's in it. It was either that or booster and I told him 2 weeks ago not even to THINK about the booster until he is 4 (and we will have to start booster training him in case someone other than dh or myself or my dad has to pick him up from daycamp this summer). He looked so little sitting on the seat, but we used the crotch strap and wow! those shoulder lock-offs work very well. Kid couldn't move. If I could just find a way to use it in the house sometimes...
