Graco My Ride 65

I am looking into the next car seats after infant carriers for my twins, and I thought I had decided on Graco My ride 65, but someone told me that they do not transition into a belt positioning booster. So - what does that mean? How long could the babies stay in them before I'd have to buy another car seat. It looks like the good booster seats are just as expensive as convertible car seats. I also liked that the My Ride 65 had cup holders, and they are affordable - I need to buy 4 so I cant spend a ton. It looks like most convertible car seats have either no cup holder, or cheapy looking flimsy ones. Which car seat is the most cost effective in the long run. Thanks

My children could use the MyRide until 5.5 or maybe 6 but they have short torsos. Convertable seats that convert to boosters usually make bad boosters. You can get a Turbo booster on sale for $30. I say it is better to get a convertable that will work until you kiddo needs a booster and then buy a booster when needed since the cost can be less.

Also, you can find the MyRide for $115 on Walmart.com, comes to about $125 with tax and free site to store shipping.

If you have to get 4 of them (phew!), I'd say go for the My Ride. It will get most kids to 3-4 rear facing and to 5 forward facing. After that you would most likely just need dedicated boosters for them, which can be purchased for much cheaper than a convertible. You have a few years to decide on that one though. :)

Graco MyRide 65's DO NOT turn into a belt positioning booster at all. That seat is strictly a convertible RF/FF harness seat. I hope you pass that information onto whoever informed you of that.

Please read the OP more closely. The poster was told that they do not turn into BPB and is therefore looking for suggestions.

Infants seat usually cost $125-$200 and are usually outgrown before the first or sometimes second birthday.
The MyRide at $125 could keep them rear facing for a long time and will harness them forward facing until about 5, maybe 6 depending on their size.
The booster will fit from 5 or 6 years old to possibly 10+ when they fit in the adult seat belt. So even while boosters seem overpriced, for under $100 you often use them for a few years longer than your other other car seats.
That breakdown sometimes takes the sting out of car seat prices but I can't imagine thinking anything is a good price when buying 4! :p I think MyRides would be very cost effective.

Is one car rarely used? I would consider other, less expensive seats for the 2nd car depending on their height, weight & age.

Regarding convertible seats that turn into boosters. Many models are notorious for positioning the seatbelt dangerously. It sounds (from your OP) that the booster seat is years off so it wouldn't even be on my radar yet. Especially when new seats are constantly being developed and released. :)

I agree, they My Rides for the primary car and something a little less expensive for the 2nd car. Even Sceneras for the 2nd car and just make sure if you are going on a trip, you take the MR for road trips but the Sceneras are better for air travel (much smaller and lightweight).

For cheaper seats, Sceneras, Avenues, maybe even Titans. These of course will not last you as long but hopefully until 3 or 4 and then you could get a combination seat for that car (one that goes from harness to booster).

I would do MyRides and hope it got them to 5, then turboboosters. Turbos can often be found on a very good sale at Target, Costco, or albeebaby.com :) Not that you need them yet, just fyi for later.

I just want to point this out but check the FF install of the seat in your vehicle. The MR can be problematic FF because of the natural recline of the seat. It is a wonderful RF seat, but may not work FF in your vehicle. There are many people who they DO work for, but i also know people who the MR FF does NOT work for. Just wanted to warn you about that so that in 2 years when you go to turn the seats around you don't get a big  because it won't install correctly in your car.

And i am with the suggestions to get a nice seat for the main vehicles and something a little less pricey for the secondary vehicle.

And just to point out, not all boosters are expensive. The Graco Turbobooster works very well and you can usually find it for $40-50. So there cheaper options when the MR is outgrown.
