So I got my flash drive memory stick thingy because my laptop doesn't use disks -- managed to finally (after many weeks of my file being lost thanks to my mom "hiding" it) cut/paste my file FULL of very valuable data off the shared drive into my memory stick ... get home & plug it into the laptop to find it *EMPTY*  :( There is nothing on it & my file on the shared system is empty  I could just scream!!!

No.... I think he has Dell (he also lives in another time zone ) -- we have HPs & college campass seems to have Dell  The memory stick shows the files I've been saving at school even when I'm on the laptop or my parents' desktops, but the files from their desktops can't be seen on the laptop or at school :(

What are you saving the files as? It could be that the computer doesn't recognize the file type. Example, if I save something as Word on my work computer (.doc), I can open it on my home computer with Works. But if I save it at home as Works (.wps), I cannot open it at work with Word.

Your files are probably still there, you just need to save them in a format that the computer recognizes.

College campus & my parents' desktop = Word (.doc)
My laptop = Works (.wps)

My file is not viewable on any computer.
College assignments viewable on all 3.

Try saving as .rtf - "rich text format"

You can't do all the pretty colors and tables and such, but it should be usable in all formats, versions, and platforms.

Could be that you have older version of word processing software at 'home.'

Good luck.
