Regent recline bar & LATCH w/ top tether

Is use of the recline bar absolutely necessary when installing using LATCH and securing the top tether? I want to put the Regent into an Odyssey captain's seat. Use of the bar makes the Regent barely touch the car's seatback, so I removed the bar. The directions imply that the bar is optional if you're using a top tether which I am.

Am I losing out on something by removing the bar right now? It doesn't appear so ...

sometimes the recline bar can help get a better install...but it is optional.

it is optional for LATCH installation. You must top tether though. LATCH actually stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren

Sometimes the recline bar helps in installation though. I can NOT get a good install with LATCH in my 03 corolla unless I use the recline bar. BUT I can get a great install in my mom's T&C using LATCH without the recline bar.
Play around with it, see which works best for you.
