Hello

I have a dilemma and need some advise. Last december, our car was hit by a car losing control in snow. My husband (driver) got some shoulder pain for a couple of days, I had a slight headache and ringing ears for a couple of hours. Our two-year old daughter was still facing back in her britax marathorn. She seemed ok. The ped saw her the next day and believed that she was fine.

The car seat was installed facing back in the middle of the back seat. The back of the car seat was sandwiched between the two front seats. The impact is almost head-on on the front driver-side door, damaged the front door visibly. The back door was not closing easily on the same side. After taking it apart, the tech said that the bar between the front and back seat was also warped (or something like that) and needed repair.

Anyway after lots of holiday and vacation delays, the car was fixed, and I reinstalled the car seat, and finally took it to the police station for inspection. The police thinks I should call the insurance company to replace the car seat.

My insurance company has agreed to replace it, but I don't feel right about replacing a very expensive car seat for the sake of doing so. So I am dragging my feet a little...

What is your thought? Is there any tip to check the integrity of a britax marathorn car seat safety after an accident? Should I replace it for my daughter's safety? Thank you!

No, there is no way to check. Britax requires that the seat be replaced if there were any injuries in the accident or if the door closest to the seat was damaged. Your seat needs to be replaced. I hope you're still able to include it in your claim.
