Seat Belt question

Ok so today I had my 4.5yr old nephew in his HB Turbo in my car. When I stopped quickly I looked back to see him lurching forward, the belt did not lock upon braking. Is it possible he was to light for it to activate? I mean I rode there Saturday and I know it does work when I sat there? Does his 42-43lbs vs my 170 really make a difference as to how it would work like that? I mean it was so bad he almost flew out of the booster. And I did not brake incredibly hard at all.

In my experience, new booster riders (at 4.5, I hope he's new at it...?) tend to lurch forward upon braking way more than older ones, they just haven't learned to ride with the car as well. And, yeah, did your seatbelt lock? If it didn't, his wouldn't have.

I just was using his seat from his parents and no he is not new at riding in one (they put him in one at like two!) But I had to take him on an emergency basis and did not have another seat that fit him. Yes my belt did lock upon braking, so I have no idea why this happened. Also he is almost five he will be five in May.

There will be a 'lurching' before the belt lock kicks in. It's not immediate.

A 5 point harness is not necessarily safer. The boy is perfectly safe in the Turbobooster provided he sits correctly and the screws are in the armrests. :p
