MyRide rear facing installation tips please

I might have to use a MyRide rear facing for a very short trip today (15 mph speed zone- 3 minutes each way ) and just have not yet installed one rear facing. I am fine with installing seats in general- of course if it were possible I'd see a tech buit it is not.

Just wanted to know if there are any things that are different or any useful tips to use when installing rear facing that I may be unaware of. The baby is 5 months old/18lbs if it matters-I have installed many Graco convertibles- just wondering if it is any different in any way. I am most familiar with all the Britax models but perfectly efficient at installing the seats I've used in the past- just haven't used this one yet and of course, don't want to miss anything and would love the general 411 on this install if any...

Newer vehicle- can be LATCH or seatbelt....what do you prefer with the MR65 and why? that sort of thing...

Thanks!

It's a pretty simple install, either one. Get your paw right down where the feet go and try to pull as straight up on the LATCH strap as possible with the other paw. You might find it awkward to pull straight up because of the lip under the cupholders. The trick is to grab the LATCH strap as close to the adjuster as possible to give yourself a little room.

It goes in really easily with LATCH. It has 2 seperate LATCH straps, so you don't have to rethread and make sure the hooks are right.

Neither I nor DH can get our seat as tight as we like with the trick Maedze suggested; it just doesn't work in our vehicle. In a thread where I posted how I couldn't get it tight enough, another tech suggested pulling the cover over the cup holder and then you can pull the LATCH strap inside where the baby sits, rather than pulling on the outside. Tightens super easy that way, then pop the cover back over the cupholder and done.

To clarify, it has separate LATCH straps for RF vs FF, but not 2 separate left/right straps like the Britax seats. Which as SusanMae said, saves you from having to worry about flipping the strap if the seat was set up for use in the opposite direction.

I install like techo said. But I do that with all seats. I also find it easier to pull the latch strap striaght if I stand behind the seat and push in with my body.

Make sure the feet are fliped under the seat for RF. They are 2 gray strips of plastic that should be inside/under the bottom of the seat. That is something that is unique to the MR.

Thank you for the clarification- I was confused because I don't remember it having LATCH bars  two separate straps is awesome...didn't realize that  I'm happy to hear that bcause almost everyone I know who has used a convertible rear facing at any point always had the wrong path one way or the other ... good move Graco

As for pulling the strap through the cover/pulling cover back- I am happy that works with the MR...I do that with Britax seats, I love how much tighter it goes when you do that

Well thank you everyone, this is the kind of info I was looking for.. I feel a lot better about it now knowing these things  especially given that I was the one who told my friend to buy this seat! You'd think I knew it well, right? haha...it was a good price for them and seemed to be the best choice for a chunky 5 month old who was outgrowing the SR22 quickly... they were able to trade it for the discount and they LOVE the MR  happy to have my friend (first time mom) taking this stuff seriously and being on board with ERF yay!

The pulling-the-cover back thing works too; it's just more of a PITA because the cover is closely fitted to the cupholder and it can be annoying to remove and replace it. I'm extremely lazy so I prefer to find shortcuts
