Frontier XT Quick Review

Well we just got the seats last night, so here is a quick review and some pics!

New Specifications:
Harness Mode:
25 - 65 lbs, 30 - 57"

Booster Mode:
40 - 120 lbs, 42 - 65"

Frontier XT - Side By Side Picture.
- Immediately you notice that the shell mould has changed. It is actually higher and narrower than the 2009 (pink) beside it. The new seat is about an inch narrower (19" vs 20") than the old 2009 model.
- The cup holders have been changed so that they no longer retract into the seat and look to hold about a 20oz bottle
- The arm rests are fixed, no longer move up.
- The base is lower, making it easier for a child to get in and out of. Not a ton, but enough to make a difference
- The top notch is higher, approximately 20" in comparison to 18 1/4" for 2009
- The seat is lighter, 19.6 pounds vs 22.7 - I noticed the difference as soon as I picked it up.

Frontier XT - Webbing Comparison
-The webbing is definitely heavier and looks more like the webbing that is used on the rest of their seats. This was probably changed due to the 85lb 5 point capability in the US, but it will definitely help with twisting!

Frontier XT - Rear View
- again you can notice the higher and narrower shell here.
- The sides of the seat where the latch goes through have been opened up a lot! This will help a lot in installations where the buckles would jamb.
- The back plate to hide the harness has been lengthened -again this will reduce the time the Y plate gets stuck making it easier to tighten the harness on the seat.
- Latch holders - they now have a spot to attach the latch if you are doing a seatbelt installation

Frontier XT - Side Profile
- Great instructions ... they have labeled the seat really well with detailed installation path. Even identified the long and short belt paths! Talks about positioning block too!
