Thoughts on Pikkolo Carrier? AngelBaby?
Anyone have one? Love it, hate it? Pros and cons?
I've been searching carriers like crazy and having a really hard time finding one I like and that fits right. I was pretty much sold on the Beco when I came across the Pikkolo and I love the fact that it can be used facing out since Sean loves looking around. It looks like a really versatile carrier, but I haven't seen it mentioned here. Also, not sure about the lack of support for the baby, though from the reviews, no one else seems to be concerned about it and all of the reviews are positive.
I definitely want an SSC, or something like the Pikolo (I'm not sure it's technically considered an SSC as its based on the mei tei). I need something quick and easy that I can get him in and out of with little to no trouble. I like the Moby well enough, it does what it's supposed to do, but even with a ton of practice (I can get it on and him in it securely in less than 3 minutes), it's definitely not a throw baby in and go carrier.
My biggest issue with finding the right carrier is the fit. I am 110 pounds and thin. Everything I try is just too "loose" on me. I don't feel like he's not secure in them, I just feel like they need to be tighter on me and if I could just pull the buckles a little bit tighter, I'd be good to go. I want the ease of the buckles and getting him in and out quickly and easily. I've researched every carrier out there trying to find the right one. The closest place to actually see and try different carriers is a woman about an hour away who has a retail "store" in her home and she has of all the carriers I've considered/are considering. She does schedule appointments in her home, and charges $20, $10 of which gets credited towards the purchase of the carrier. She will spend one hour talking to you, finding out what you want/need in a carrier and figure out what works and fits best for you. I like the idea of this, but her stuff is more expensive than other online stores and although she welcomes kids to her home, I can't see all three of mine having the patience to sit there for an hour and watch me try on a ton of different carriers. But maybe it's easier than to keep buying and returning.
Geez - I need to open a store around here. I'm in a BIG city, for crying out load, with lots of very upscale areas (not thet *I* live in one of them ). Why on earth do I have to drive an hour to even buy a Radian? And forget about finding a carrier. Choices here are what you find in Target, Walmart and BRU. I'm getting so frustrated and annoyed with this, but want to make the right decision since I'm spending what is a fair amount of money for me. I can't see myself using a carrier past 18-24 months, but you never know. For now, I want one that will get me through the next year. HELP ME, PLEASE! I'm losing my mind here!
