Tether in Pontiac

Our 97 Pontiac Grand Prix does not have any anchor spots. I'd like to get one for my daughters Marathon. I heard GM is doing this for free? (GM and Pontiac are the same, correct?) I tried looking it up but can't seem to find a number to call or a place to find out more information on getting this done. I didn't buy this car at a dealership, it was bought used so I'm not sure who to go to.

Another question, can there be more than one tether spot in a vehicle? Our old car (pre kids) had one tether but it was only located in the middle which I assume isn't meant to be used for seats on the side..

I had tethers put in a 93 grand am and didn't have any problems. Just call the dealership but make sure they know what your talking about, you don't want someone instaling them that's never done it before.

I had tethers installed in my '98 Montana. Be forewarned, even though dealerships will do them for free, it is up to the discretion of the dealership as to whether or not they actually will. The dealership I took my van to had no clue what I was talking about, so get your info straight & be prepared to educate them on what you're talking about.

My dealership did charge me since I wanted 2 anchors done. I think they charged me $38 to do both, which I was fine with since I wanted them so badly, LOL.

I do have 2 factory installed anchors in my van, but since I installed 2 Regents for kids who weighed more than the anchors' limit & since the factory anchors share the seatbelts' anchors, I had to have 2 more installed so that they would have their own.

Oh, also... someone with a LATCH manual will be able to give you the exact part# you'll need & possibly a number that'll help them to know what you're talking about that you can give the dealership. Good luck!
