What would you do for the plane?

My daughter is 33 months old, 35" tall, and weighs 29 pounds. When we have flown in the past, she was always been rf in her Britax Roundabout on the plane. She has since outgrown it by height and we switched to a True Fit (rf) for the car. We are planning to fly next month and now I am not sure what to do. Do I take the True fit and try to install it rf? if it won't fit just turn her around ff for the flight? Should I just plan to have to put her ff for the flight and take the roundabout instead? Would it be easier to carry on and off the plane? We have a gogokidz for in the airport, so that won't be a problem. I will be 22 weeks pregnant at the time and fighting with the heavier, bulkier True Fit installation if it won't fit rf anyway scares me. What would you do?

Thanks for your help!

I doubt the TF would fit rear-face. And the airline stewardesses won't always let you put a car seat rear facing without a fight anyway.

I'd plan on using the TF forward-facing on the plane and rear-facing in the car. (I don't know how easy/difficult it is to manage a TF in an airport.)

Thanks for the response. We won't be in a car at the other end. We will be staying on site at Walt Disney World and using their transportation - buses, monorail, and boats. The car seat will only be for use on the plane. If I am going to have to end up using it ff on the plane anyway, would the roundabout be easier to deal with in the airport and for installation on the plane?

Almost certainly!

If the roundabout is outgrown in height I wouldn't personally use it on the plane. What about a cares harness since you are using magic express and WDW transportation?

Ah. I interpreted that as outgrown by height RF (but still able to be used FF). If the Roundabout is outgrown FFing you should not take it, no.

I did mean that the Roundabout is outgrown by height rear facing, but not forward facing.

I guess I should verify that, but I am almost certain she will be fine in it forward facing. As long as the shell is not below her ears and the top strap slots are still above her shoulders, right?

ETA: The top shoulder slots are almost 2 inches above her shoulders, but the next slots down are well behind her shoulder. Her head is about an inch above the shell, but her ears are at least an inch or maybe 2 below the top of the shell. This means it still fits ff, right? We haven't done any ff ever yet so I want to make sure I know the right rules. Thanks!

Yes, she still fits forward facing.

She will fit forward facing until her shoulders are over the top slots, she reaches the weight limit or the shell is at the middle of her ears.

I would bring whichever seat is easiest for you to carry. If you want her rear facing you can try the truefit. I am not sure it would fit rear facing on all airlines. If you travel a lot and don't generally need a seat at your destination I would look the CARES harness for the plane. However I wouldn't spend $100ish dollars on one for one trip.
