Old SS1 with new harness and extra base, or new SS1?

So I am torn. I got my SS1 back today from my friend who had been borrowing it for her 8 month old (I loaned her my Roundabout to use now). The SS1 is the seat I used when DD, who is 3, was an infant. Manufacture date is 11/05. The seat has been in constant use since we bought it in 11/06 - first for DD, then for my cousin, then for my friend's baby. So I am thinking I would like to at least replace the straps, just in case they got washed at some point. They do look a bit too clean for having been through three babies. :) I do know it has not been in any accidents, since I know the two families I loaned it to very well. I also need another base since we only ever had one base and I now will need one for DH's car as well.

So, basically, after spending $20 or so on new straps, and $60 on a Snugride 32/35 base, I'll have put $80 into a seat that will expire in Dec. of 2011. Or, I could buy a SS1 on Albee Baby for around $100 and use my old base as a second base. A SS1 from Albee won't have the best manufacture date ever, but the point is, I could still use my old base (can't use a SS1 base for a Sugride 32/35, which is why I'm not considering one of those, plus the SS1 is cheaper). And this is my last baby, it's not like I need to get 5 or 6 years out of this seat - two years will be more than sufficient.

So I'm really tempted to just get a new seat... WWYD?

I would get either this one: SS1 in Gianni
or this one: SS1 in Laguna Green
I'm having a boy, FWIW. :)

Oh! I could use my old SS1 cover as a spare cover. That would be very nice. :)

I vote to get the new one. It's only a $20 difference and you can sell it when you are done for probably more than $20. Or give it away/loan it out.
