When did the CarGo's change their harness slot height?

You mean the super duper brand new ones that kind of look bigger? Or where they were sort of really always 'about' 17 inches but seemed to lose an inch to all the gracopedic padding in the bum?

Well, from what I understood, they didn't used to have as tall of harness heights for the top slots as they do now, but then they changed it and now they pretty much have 17 inch top slots.
lol

I was under the impression that there was a definite change in the shell.

I have a CarGo that has a DOM of 12/03. It seems to have pretty tall slots, but I haven't actually measured and the seat is out right now. My dd is almost 4 and still in the middle slots (she's little though). Her torso is about 13.5-14" the last time I checked. She's almost even with the 2nd slots from the top. I forget which exact type of CarGo we have but it has the front adjuster and seems pretty cushy, but it doesn't have the Gracopedic foam label.

I think the gracopedic foam is what caused my ds to outgrow his comfort sport so quickly. If the foam wasn't there I think it would have been ok for a bit longer!

So I think that the gracopedic foam does take away from the height, so if they have come out with a new higher shell that's great!

They weren't calling it "gracopedic" but my dd outgrew her CS that was probably DOM early 03 when she was 24 months old. I've noticed on the carseatdata.org site they talk about "Graco CarGo - new design" having 17" top slots, but it's been saying that for over a year at least. I wonder if the carseat pictorial pages would help with this mystery.

Now the newest CarGos measure bigger (when a kiddo sits in it and an "old" one still on the shelf). I'll go look for a post about that. OK... Here Kat, mom to Ruthie, posts pictures of the Sycamore CarGo (Zephyr is the same, different color) and she shows another 1" of torso room! You can tell the Sycamore and Zephyr cause they have little "pillows" on the armrest part. Did I help or confuse? LOL!

Yeah, that's the super duper new ones...they really do look bigger at the store, I just didn't have my measuring tape with me (obviously I've been around awhile, there are lots of times we've tried to figure out the Cargo slot heights... so I've always personally called them 'about 17 inches', so you can tell it's roughly in the same league as the MA/Evenflos and taller than the average convertible or cosco boosters, which is 'about 15 inches')

It was 'about 17' when I bought the first Cherished for my son back in early 2000 and they first came out, lol (and my dh bought an eddie bauer with lower top slots, because 'they guy at kmart says they're the same!'...ooh, I was a mad mama that day)

:)
