01 Ford Focus and Graco Nautilus

Good Morning All,

DS has outgrown (or atleast I think he has) his Evenflo Triumph. I am looking at purchasing a Graco Nautilus. I have a 2001 Ford Focus and from what I've read this is a big seat. Will it be okay in my small car?

The Nautilus should fit just fine in your car (as should any child restraint). It's very, very rare that a seat is truly 'too big' for a vehicle, and your vehicle is not likely to pose problems with any restraint.

I had a 2000 Focus and I have played with a Nautilus, not when I had the car, but since. Even so, I think it will work great in there!

How old is your child and how much does he weigh? In what way do you think he has outgrown his current seat?

With these answers we can help you to figure out if he has outgrown it and if the Nautilus would be a good choice for a new seat. Thanks!

My parents have a 2007 Focus as there secondary vehicle and DD's Nautilus fits nicely - I don't see where you should have a problem - especially since its a forward facing seat.

Another vote for yes. I have an '06 and it works great. I use it in the centre, and I can still sit beside it. We are currently using it in its highest harness position, and my husband (who does 99% of the driving) hasn't complained of blocked vision.

Good luck with it! :)

P.S. If you're looking for another option, the Radian also installs exceptionally well in the Focus - but it won't last you as long as a Nautilus, nor will it become a booster later. Just sayin', is all. ;)

I agree! We have a 2003 Focus, and the Nautilus installs quite easily. DS and I have been very happy with the seat.

No ONE seat is going to be too big for a vehicle. Even TWO seats are going to fit in basically all cars, the issue comes into play when you need to get 3 seats side-by-side in one row...that can cause issues. the only other time you see big incompatibilities is when ,for example, the seats themselves are scooped-out or shaped really oddly, like in some sports cars, or when the seat itself is insanely small/short, as in some extended cab trucks for example.
I've installed our nauti in my grammas focus, not sure on year, but early 2000's, and it fits nicely, installs easily.

Good point!

OP, is the Nautilus the only car seat you'll need to fit into your Focus? I had no problem fitting it in with another seat (both were outboard) but now that I need to do 3-across - well, let's just say there's a reason I had to buy several skinny Radians! LOL (My other car is an Escort, also not the biggest back seat.)
