Traveling with huge dog

I am curious where the statement "plastic will shatter" has come from. I haven't found any evidence on this, and trainers, breeders and vets will all tell clients that a crate is the way to travel with your dog. In the dog world, crates are like car seats.

Albeit, take it with a grain of salt as these people are selling harnesses, but I wasn't willing to go on skepticism when it came to our dog/kids safety. I wonder if maybe part of the issue would be plastic breakdown over time, as in a carseat. I know we've had the more expensive airline crates get cracks/stress damage over time and we've never had a crate in use for more than 7 years. We only use ours indoors too other than one time when a dog flew cross country but maybe our dogs are just hard on crates.

I think I'd probably be ok with the one in the video though, that looks awesome. I wonder how big they sell them, will have to look into it next time we buy one here.

The trainers I've spoken to do say that the plastic weakens over time, and that most of them use a crate for 3-4 years, then buy a new one. I would consider "anti crate" data from a biased source like a harness manufacturer not all that reliable:twocents: but that's just me. I do want 2 of those crates that I posted. That thing looks like it could handle anything.
