I tried the keyfit in the center seat of my car with a marathon outboard today. It did not fit. The employee told me that the narrowest infant seat is the babytrend, so we tried it. Still a no go with the Marathon outboard. He then recommended I get a different seat for the older child, or try putting her seat in the center and the infant seat outboard. He told me that the SK radian was the narrowest seat on the market, and has an 80 lb harness limit. He also told me that a baby could ride in some convertible seats if they fit right. I was expecting bad advice and was very suprised
Also some random carseat related news from this weekend. I had to loan out one of my marathons to my niece. When I asked my MIL how much she weighed, she said she didn't know, but that she was definitely over 40 lbs Since she was riding in a safety first summit, I reminded MIL of the limit. She said she couldn't afford another seat for her (this is after a $60 breakfast at IHOP, and a $20 toy for each of the three girls) So I asked if she would like to borrow one of my seats until she could buy one. I reminded her of the rules for my carseats, and they left.
