A question about Britax seats

After being on here and reading through a lot of the info, I've decided to go ahead and purchase a Britax carseat. My Eddie Bauer seems unsafe to me now because I haven't heard how they do in accidents, etc. And also because I want a girly seat for my daughter now:p
Anyways, I was leaning towards a Decathalon over a Marathon, and I was just wondering which one is preferred over the other. The Decathalon seems like a better choice because of the added safety features, but I'm no expert. Thanks!

Your Eddie Bauer seat is safe, don't worry about that--all seats sold pass the same testing standards. Granted, Britax does tests that aren't required by our US law, so that's good...but we have no real way of knowing which seats perform better in a crash. Britax seats (at least the higher weight limit ones) have the significant advantage of lasting years longer than other convertibles, plus they have a rear-facing top tether and are usually easier to use than most other seats.

And they have girly covers! :p

The Decathlon has harness adjuster issues and the only benefit over the Marathon is the infant padding, not necessary for an older baby IMO.

The Boulevard is the one with true side impact protection via headwings, it's also got infant padding, but no girly covers.

Personally, I most definitely prefer my Marathon over my Decathlon. I've found my Decathlon to be impossible to adjust when rear-facing and very difficult even when not in the car. I have to tighten the harness before buckling it. My MA isn't "easy" necessarily, but it's a million time easier than the DC.

The Decathlon isn't "safer" than the MA, it just has extra infant padding, an adjustable crotch strap, and a push button harness release...none of which the MA has.

Like scatterbunny said, the Boulevard is the one with true side-impact protection (headwings) and it also has an "infinite" harness height adjustment (no re-threading, you just turn the knob so the harness is always at the perfect height).

I am another one who has had significant issues with the decathlon - I had two - one FF'ing and one RF'ing and both were impossible to tighten. Like Sam said, the MA isn't "easy" to adjust but it gets a good, tight fit each time. If I were to make the choice again today I would be chosing between the Boulevard and the Marathon.

Thanks a lot ladies. Now I think I wanna go for the Boulevard! Lol. Decisions decisions. I won't be replacing the seat for a little while yet, I was informed by my fiance(damn wedding). So I have a lot more time to make up my mind. Thanks for the input!
