Talk to me about ERF choices :)

DD is 2.5 and 30lbs. I'll get her weighted next week so I'll know better. Her Boulevard only goes into 33lbs RF so I'm starting to research about higher weight RF seats. I want something with at least 40lbs RF limit. I would also want to use the seat later as a FF harness seat so harness height would be important too. DD sits in the middle in our Jeep so most of the seats would have to be installed with seatbelt, but we will get a new car next summer (probably Sienna/Odysseus) and I can use LATCH then.

My favorite at this point is radian but I would love to get other ideas.

radian XTSL
+ I like the 45lbs RF and 80lbs FF
+ is tethered
- highest setting for straps are quite low compared to 80lbs weight limit
- I would need to install with seatbelt and I'm afraid it would not fit
- the seat is so narrow that it look like some other might protect better during side impact.
+ I like the covers

There aren't too many choices. The Radians, of course, the Complete Air, and the MyRide are 40 pounds rear facing, the newest Radian line at 45 pounds.

What is your rear facing age goal?
DD's torso height?
Plan to have more kiddos soon?

We love the MyRide for my 26 month old. It will most likely get him close to 3 yrs old rear facing and he'll fit in it forward to about 5.5 yrs old, if not longer. He is 34ish lbs, 38ish inches with a torso around 14 inches long. The Radian will keep children rear facing longer than the MyRide and it will keep them harnessed longer but the Radian 80s and XTs aren't likely to get a child harnessed to 80lbs so that part doesn't impress me much. Children will outgrow the 80s and XTs in height at the same time as the Radian 65s. If you have the money and it will fit in your vehicle, I'd go with the Radian. They all have side impact protection but, since they don't test how well seats perform with side impact protection, there is no way to know which seat is better for side impact protection.
If I had the money, I would have probably gone with a Radian instead of the MyRide because of the taller shell and the fact that it can be tethered while rear facing. We are extremely happy with our MyRide though
