How and when to start booster training?

My daughter is going to be 5 on 8/5/10 and I am considering starting booster training after that. She is 42 pounds and maybe 44 inches tall (not completely sure but she is tall for a girl her age). She would use the booster only for short rides in town and only in my boyfriend's car (she'll stay...

Question Why is LATCH good on boosters?

I already understand that LATCH is good to keep the seat from becoming a projectile, but is that the only reason? I remember hearing some time ago that maybe it wasn't such a great thing because you want the booster seat to move with the child in the event of an accident. Just curious.

I have to share this funny car seat dream!

I hope this is the right place to be posting this, I'm not sure. Anyway, I had a hilarious dream last night involving car seats. The dream was that someone broke into my car while I was in the mall or somewhere and stole my Daisy Nautilus but left me two Clek Oobrs, one with the paul frank...

Question Radians FF when shoulders are over top harness slot

First thing, is it all Radian's that can be used up to the weight limit, regardless of the shoulders being over the top harness slots? Or is that just the new ones with SL? Have they given an explanation as to how this is permissible? It just doesn't seem okay to me, but then again I'm not a car...

Isn't the recline bar safer, even in pre-advisory Regents?

Even though pre-advisory Regents don't REQUIRE the recline bar to install, isn't it safer to use it because it reduces head excursion? It's not like the seats are different, except for the advisory stuff. They require the recline bar on post-advisory seats because they decided it's necessary for...

Quick question about Regent recline bar.

If my seat was made in May 07 do I have to use the recline bar?

Question How to get rep points?

I would like to have swapping privileges but I don't have enough reputation points. So how do I get more?

    Seatbelt not staying tight

I have a manually adjusted lap belt in the middle of the backseat of my 2005 Grand Am. I have installed car seats with it before and the belt always stayed tight. A couple months ago the plastic piece that covers the buckle fell off and since then the belt has not stayed tight. Does that piece...

Amtrak...which car seat should I bring?

My daughter and I will be traveling on an Amtrak train for a 32 hour trip. I need to decide if I should bring her Britax Regent or Graco Nautilus. The GN seems like a better choice because it's smaller, but her head ALWAYS flops forward if she falls asleep in it, whereas she sleeps very...

What do you know about the Safety 1st Intera?

This seat really impressed me when I was looking for a convertible seat back in 2006, but I didn't get it and I don't really remember why. I got a ComfortSport instead (big mistake!). But I was just looking at Safety 1st's website tonight and they still have it, and in an adorable ladybug...

Question Carseat loose in the trunk...okay?

I have 2 car seats now and I keep one installed in the center of my back seat which doesn't leave room for the other one on the sides so I've been keeping it in the trunk. I can hear it sliding around and sometimes bumping into the sides of the trunk when I drive and I am wondering if that is...

Regent Install - Long Belt Path

I just got a Regent a few days ago and have been playing with the different ways to install it in the different spots in my car. I used the lap only belt in the middle position in my back seat and the belt was JUST long enough to work. The lap shoulder belts in the outboard positions are not...

Question Would you get the new Radian XTSL in my case?

My daughter is 4 years and 1 month old. She weighs 38 pounds and is 41 inches tall and her torso height is 15 inches. I just heard about the Radian XTSL with the 45 pound rear-facing limit last night and I immediately wanted one. She's been forward facing since 2 years, 8 months and I'm just...

    Vent I'm whining about Britax

When I first heard about the Britax Regent maybe a year and a half ago and decided I was going to get one, I fell in love with their convertibles, too, and decided I was going to be an all Britax mommy in the future. But now I wouldn't buy a Britax convertible because I must have a seat with the...

Question 3 across in a van or SUV

If you have 3 seats installed in the middle row of a van or SUV isn't it hard or nearly impossible for anyone to get in the 3rd row? Just curious.

Something I saw at the grocery store tonight...is this okay?

I'm pretty sure it's not but I'm not a tech and I just wanted to ask. There was a woman putting her 2 girls into the middle seat of a minivan and she had the kind that you can turn the chairs rear-facing. So her younger daughter was getting into a convertible car seat that was installed in a...

Question Why does graco still make snugrides with back adjust harnesses?

Anyone know? It just seems weird that they make some with a front adjust and some with a back adjust. Why not make them all front adjust for ease of use? There are a lot of patterns of the snugride that I really like (especially the Little Hoot one at Target!) but they're all back harness adjust.

Who's seen the Britax Chaperone pictures?

I was super excited when I found out there actually were pictures but then kind of let down when I saw them. It doesn't look that different than the companion to me. It appears to still have the same stupid chest clip (but I could be wrong). I was really bummed about the stroller. I liked how...

Question What toys and sippies in the car?

What kind of toys can my daughter use in the car that wouldn't become a dangerous projectile? Also, we have playtex sippies that are hard and I was wondering what is a good light cup to use in the car.

    Question Galaxy vs Bravo/Matrix

I've decided to get my daughter a Nautilus for her next seat, but I can't decide which pattern to get. I've seen a Bravo or Matrix in real life but not a Galaxy. The Galaxy looks much softer than the other 2 but I wanted to see if someone actually knows for sure. Just in case anyone wants to...
