Question Turn older toddler? Find new convertible for baby? OR....

Hi all :D
I have been off for about a year and am a little out of the loop on the new convertibles available.

Our "baby", MJ, is now 14 months old and I'm ready to transition her out of the Keyfit22 and into a convertible, RF of course.
My 2nd youngest, Z, is turning 3 on July 7th and currently still Rf in the Complete Air 65. I'd need to keep the two youngest side by side in the middle row of our '09 Pilot. Really need to leave an open seat for older child or passenger.

Now, so far I have considered two options:

1 - Keep Z in the CA and find a new convertible to go RF for MJ.

2 - Move Z FF in a Combination Harness/Booster seat (Graco Nautilus?) and move MJ to the CA.

What would you all suggest? Budget is not open ended, but safety is MOST important :)
If I get a new seat for MJ, which would you start with?
Thanks for any/all feedback (stats are in sig & profile) I'll try to get better measurements though

If DD1 was close to outgrowing all 40 pound seats I would consider turning her FF, but since she's so tiny at 28 pounds, I would definitely go with option 1 and keep them both RF.

I know a rear facing MyRide will fit next to a Complete Air in a Pilot. I think a Radian will fit too. I'm not the best at remembering what puzzles well together if I haven't done it myself, so I'll let others speak up on that.

Your baby lasted to 14 months in the KF 22? That's amazing to me. My grandson Matthew outgrew it at 9 or 10 months heightwise. Lucky!
I'd keep your 3 year old rear facing since it's possible and not a financial hardship to do so. I like my seats to match, so I'd probably try another CA! I'm sorry I don't know if they would play nicely next to each other.

Off topic, but my son outgrew it weight wise at 3 months. But I digress ;)

LOL.. Yes, my girls are pretty tiny. MJ was still 14 lbs at 12 months and has just had a massive growth spurt in the last 2 months ;)

I was actually looking at the MyRide. How does it fit behind the driver's seat? (Keyfit is currently on base, behind driver) Any thoughts on the new Graco seat...the Size4me?

Your girls should fit in a myride till 5 or 6 yrs old. I like ours. I havent heard good things about the size4me thing.

As far as my youngest DD stats, I checked & rechecked the measurements...does 12in torso on a 14 mo old that is barely 20lbs, seem correct to you? My older DD had a 10in torso at 16mo....

The FF issues with the myride is that it can be very reclined when installed. It mostly depends on your vehicle though as some people do not have that issue.

The Graco Size4me70 is a very nice seat. The problem that people are having with it is that Graco set a 40" RF height limit on it.

Some people are making the parental decision to RF past that height limit and go by the 1" rule. That would be up to you.

If I was in the market for a new seat and my decision was between the Myride and size4me70, I would choose the size4me70.

ETA- Torso height can vary greatly with children. My oldest has a huge torso and outgrew most carseats long before his little brother ever would. My middle son has an average torso and my daughter tends to be average bordering tall torso - even though she's a peanut (25lbs, 34" at 3)

Hmm... well I asked in the "special needs" section but haven't gotten anything. View post:

So, basically I was wondering about upcoming travel plans & if that should impact my decision now. Was considering the Coccoro as everyday seat for youngest DD. Wondering if it would last long enough to use now (& then as travel seat) to get me to the point where I could move Z (older DD) into a FF combo seat & move MJ (youngest) into her CA.

Any more feedback/experience with the Coccoro?

Are you near a Buy Buy Baby to try out MJ in the CCO? Some toddlers with long torsos will outgrow it before 2.

We love the CCO and since it is small it would leave room for a passenger and prob allow easy 3rd row access. I can't speak to how it would work with your Pilot but since it is such a small seat it usually fits next to most other seats easily. If your little one is small I would think it should allow her to rear face for at least another year until you are ready to turn big sis.

Love love love the Coccoro, but my daughter outgrew RF a month after her 2nd birthday (and outgrew FF around 2.5 if you were wondering). After she outgrew it we got a ... wait for it... my ride! LOL The My Ride will last you longer. My daughter is now 2y 10m, so I guess she's been riding in the MR about 9 months now. She loves it, it's her favorite sleeping seat. I guess I have a long torsoed toddler, because I'm noticing she's getting close to outgrowing the MR by height now. (she's in the 10th percentile for height, so it cracks me up, 14.25" torso)

If you don't mind buying another seat in a year, the coccoro is great. I provides a lot of room for other passengers in the car. We used it 3-across small sedans and were able to leave the front seats back in comfortable seating positions. If you don't need it for it's super-small-ness, then I would go with the My Ride.

Agreed, not the longest lasting seat by far! But if you only need it to last until your older daughter goes into a combo seat I think it would be great! FWIW my oldest daughter outgrew ours FF around 3.5, she is super tall but mostly legs! Great travel seat for us! And younger DD is still using one daily in one car!

Thanks for the feedback :)

I was measuring MJ just from bottom to shoulders and it just didn't seem right, so...I sat her against the wall to mark & measure and came up with 10 inches (technically 10.1 or 2, but she was wiggly), so...with that in mind, the CCO should fit her pretty well, right?

I have been looking online and see them priced anywhere from $189 - $329  where should I be looking to find a good deal on one?

 I am so frustrated! I searched online and found a Lone Star Baby store (somewhat) near me that said they carried the Coccoro. I called and asked and they told me they did. I drove an hour to get there and they DO NOT carry it. To make matters worse is they are supposed to have "everything" and they have the worst selection ever.
Since I had already driven across town, I checked the Buy Buy Baby that I saw and they didn't carry the CCO either. Neither does TRU/BRU

Looks like I will not be able to "try before I buy" and will just have to order it and hope it is all I think it will be ;) Has anyone seen the Cherry Pie in person? Is it a darker red like it appears? And is that lighter blue discontinued??? I can't seem to find it anywhere...

Size 4 Me should fit well next to the CA in a Pilot, as will a MyRide... Do you need them together on the 60 or just side-by-side? That will make a difference in what you can get in there... You can fit just about anything center and passenger, it's center and driver that is more restricted.

In my Pilot (2006,) I was not a fan of the Coccoro in the center seats. It was ok in the contoured outboard seats. Both Gracos will fit front-to-back without much trouble. I like the CA as a FF seat and I really like the Size4Me... I don't love the S4M as much as the MR for RF but that's outweighed by the S4M being a much better FF seat.

Eta: and, the Cherry Pie is a nice dark red. I really liked it!

Hope that helps!
