Hm, very non-comittal! It does look very similar. Maybe the first once didn't have the means to get off the ground, or something, and Clek bought their design. I think it works very well with the look of Clek's other seats, so maybe Clek made a dummy company to trial their convertible first, without attaching it to their name...?

Just loving the look of the new Foonf! It's so "Revolution"ary looking! And well, it just reminds me of something... ;) Any ideas, Clek?

Clek: you have a keen eye Nicki! Thanks!

Hmm. Yeah.

Maybe they'll give you a free seat for noticing. Or send someone to break your legs for spilling the secret. Foonf mafia.

So it's a play on words with "a keen eye"? Crap, I'm bad at these kind of things. Help me..

ETA: Wait! I'm really dumb, it's the "revolution"ary comment, huh.

I took it to mean that yes, there is some relation to that seat.

Or perhaps no, there's no relation but good job noticing the similarities.

I'm going with option 1 though.

But.... they were teasing us with pictures around the time of ABC. And they can and do read this forum if I remember correctly. So, they could just be screwing with us.

Does Foonf have honeycomb crumple zone technology? Can't see them taking that part out if they did use Revolution as a starting point, and can't see them not marketing it pretty heavily if Foonf does in fact have it.

"Clek’s goal is to make the safest convertible seat on the market. They have a patented energy absorbing crumple system in the base to significantly reduce chest forces on the occupant. The very impressive base is re-inforced with Magnesium, like the Oobr, and also offers rigid LATCH for forward facing use. The frame is steel re-inforced throughout."

"The base itself is a novel of technology, with an innovative crushable metal honeycomb insert to crumple and manage energy dissipation in a crash"

Oh yeah. I definitely take the comment to mean that the seats are related. They may have bought the patents, bought the whole design, bought the entire company, or maybe the Revolution was a covert ops market test by a "front" company in the first place.

What's the big deal about this seat anyway? I am missing something here....

I gather it is going to be pretty high for rfing weights. The boosters that Clek makes are really high quality. They have great covers, and are comfy (for short legged kids).

For me it's just fun and intrigue about just exactly what a $500 car seat is going to be like.

Essentially it's a clever marketing campaign and we're all just suckers.

It is going to be $500? Seriously?

It'd better have one great advertising campaign AND RF to 45#+ AND have harness slots as good or better than the RN and/or Frontier before I'd even look twice at it!

I LOVE the idea of their LBB and that they have latch, but thought IIHS rated them as check fit? In which case, personally, not sure I'd bother w/ one until my guy outgrows all of the best fit options first...

LOVE the covers on them all though!

Its from a great company in terms of quality products, has Rigid LATCH( I believe its the first US convertible to have this) , will possibly have a 45+ lb RF limit, is as tall as the Radian, so it may be a better option for tall RF kiddos when a RN is incompatible with your vehicle. Clek has made great boosters for years and this is thier first convertible.

All that, AND a clever marketing campaign!;)

Ya, even with the anticipated tech discount I don't intend to buy one. It would have to walk on water to change my mind.

By I still think the waiting is fun. :)
