Will Rainier work for 3 across?

In anticipation of our 3rd kid, we are moving our 2yo to a larger convertible. We will also be moving to a larger car or minivan (sorry, not sure what yet...possibly an Odyssey, but we may just go with a larger sedan/car). We currently have a Radian and a Coccoro (which the new baby will occupy).

I ordered a Rainier while Diono is having their sale but I'm wondering now if we'll be able to do 3 across if necessary with it. Does anyone know if a 3 across will be possible with a Radian, Rainier, and Coccoro? All RF if possible but the Radian will be FF before too long so it's not a problem if we need to go ahead and switch.

I'm particularly interested in the 3 across possibility in an Odyssey, possibly also a Prius or Insight. Or, do we need to stick with something more likely to do 3 across - another Radian, Foonf, or Fllo?

TIA!

No real personal experience with the Diono seats, but I don't think you'll have a big problem with 3 across with those 3 seats in most larger vehicles.

I do have a Coccoro though...and an Odyssey. And I have to say, if you're dead seat on keeping your kids 3 across, I probably wouldn't bother with the Odyssey. It's doable, but may not work as easily as you'd like (the middle seat can be a pain for installs..people have had trouble with the Cocorro in the center in the latest generation, which is 2011+, and the previous generation...and the Radian may also have run into some issues in the middle seat). Beyond that, if you have 3 harnessed seats installed 3 across in an Ody, you can't access the third row anyways from the sliding doors, which may be totally fine for your family if you just want to have all that cargo space. We do 3 across sometimes for that very reason. But day to day, 2 in the middle row and one in the third is generally a lot easier. ;)

The Rainer is wider at the top - so if you have all of the seats in the same direction and it's tight that extra width might cause problems. If they are alternating though then should be fine.

Here's the extra width:

And here is a Radian (purple) squeezed in between an Olympia and a Rainier. Another Rainer/Olympia/Pacifica wouldn't have fit:

So...if the Coccoro is low enough (we don't have them in Canada) to sit under the extra width of the Rainier I think you'd be fine if they were all RF.

Thanks. I'm feeling better about it now. The Coccoro is pretty small next to the Dionos.

And the 3 across would be more of an "in case we need it" type of thing in a minivan, if we do get one. Like if we need to have all the cargo space in the back. I doubt I'd leave them like that day-to-day...the whole point of a minivan is to separate them. ;)
