Installation in Pontiac G6

Can the outboard tethers be used to install a seat in the middle of the car? Or is it seatbelt only for the middle?

When you say tethers, you're really asking about installing in the center with the lower LATCH anchors, right?

The lower LATCH anchor installation allowability in the center depends on the G6's model year from what I'm seeing in the LATCH manual.

The '05 4-door G6 model has outboard sets of lower LATCH anchors, and GM doesn't allow borrowing the outboard lower LATCH anchors to do a center LATCH install. Thus a seatbelt installation would be necessary in the center if it's an '05 model.

The '06-'09 4-door G6 models have 5 lower LATCH anchors, with one lower anchor offset toward the driver's side that can be used for a LATCH installation on the driver's side or for the center. You can do a lower LATCH anchor installation on the center and passenger side simultaneously, or on the passenger side and driver's side at the same time, but not on the driver's side and center at the same time because you can't double up on that offset lower LATCH anchor.

I'm guessing you're asking about a 4-door since you mention a center rear seatbelt. If it's an '07-09 G6 2-door or 2-door convertible by any chance (or for any lurkers who might have a 2-door G6 model), then there is no center rear seating position or center rear seatbelt at all. Any harnessed carseat would need to be installed outboard using an outboard seatbelt or the outboard position's dedicated lower LATCH anchors in the 2-door G6.
