Anyone have a Swedish seat?

I saw a website with Swedish seats.. I was just wondering if they are 'legal' here and if anyone has one? I am sure shipping would be outrageous though, right?

It is not legal to use a Swedish seat: all state laws (AFAIK) require that children be restrained in seats approved by FMVSS213, and Swedish seats are not.

It's illegal to import or use a Swedish seat in the U.S. (The only exception is that visitors from other countries are allowed to bring their seats for use during their visit.) Federal law prohibits importing the seats, and all states require use of a car seat that meets US FMVSS 213, which no Swedish seat does.

You can find some additional information in this recent thread.

I thought it wasn't illegal to import the seat here you just couldn't use it legally.

That stinks. Why can't our American seats be made like the Swedish Britax seats?

Realistically, aside from communities like this board, there's just not a market for that kind of seat in the US. We're still working to get people to keep their kids rear-facing until 1 yr/20 lbs. :( :twocents:
