Why do I have to have the receipt for a gift for insurance to replace a car seat from my aunt who is no longer here

I usually never complain about stuff like this but this is something that my favorite aunt gave to my son before she contracted covid-19..Saddly she passed away 6 months ago and my car was in an accident and I really didn't feel comfortable thinking I was going to have to use the same car seat. someone told me that the insurance company would cover and pay for the car seat. and my aunt bought him the Britax grow with me car seat, and I would hate to just go get a cheapy one because I can't afford it she wanted the best for him and she worked hard to get that specific one.. while she was sick that was the last thing on my mind was thinking if she dies how do I get a receipt. And it wasn't until after she passed that the car met with a new teenage driver who ran a stop sign. how do I get a receipt showing that I own that car seat.
troubled in Yuma at this point I'm desperate enough to sit outside of Walmart and wait for somebody to come out with a receipt with one and take a picture of it but even that's not fair to the person who owned that one. At this point I would settle for any receipt that had at least that brand I don't care how much it was I know how much the car seat I have was worth but now it's worth nothing cuz I won't put my baby back in it

Hi!

You should explain the situation to the insurance company. They may accept a receipt for the replacement instead. Remind them that they need to make whole your losses. Good luck!
