When they sit in their seat, do you make them sit as upright as they can before checking how much space they have left in the harness or do you let them sit naturally?

Oh and just how dangerous is an outgrown harness? Pretty sure my ex has Ds in an outgrown nautilus.

I just have them sit in the seat naturally. And look to see how much space they have left. An over grown harness should not be used. The Nautilus becomes a booster so use it booster mode at that point.
How old is the child?

He's six. I gave the seat to my ex a couple yrs ago since my car ate harness height and the seat he had for Ds was outgrown by weight. I know he had some more room in his car than mine but it's been two yrs and Ds only has max two inches left in his frontier 85 so I'm assuming it's outgrown.

Not necessarily. You would have to see him in it to see. Those Nautiluses are mystically. In the same car I can lose and gain harness height.

Exactly. See if you can see him in the seat sometime (I know that's often easier said than done). If he's outgrown it, it's still a good booster too.
