I have a friend whose kids are 6, 4, and maybe 9 months. Her children are peanuts: #2 outgrew her SR22 at *two years* of age (height, closely followed by weight.) I haven't seen them in almost a year, but based on their growth patterns I would guess them to be 38lb, 44", 28lb, 38", and sixteenish pounds.
Mom drives a Prius.
Current setup is FF Radians outboard, SR22 center. The baby will outgrow it soon (I don't know how soon, I haven't seen with my own eyes, but he was bigger than the girls.)
I can get a Radian from a fellow carseat nerd for about half of new. I am not big into buying used, but I trust this Mom implicitly.
Should I recommend:
1) Three-across Radians, FF/RF/FF or however we can get them to fit? (Only the baby will be RF; the middle child RF to 3 and won't be turning back around.)
-or-
2) Turn the oldest's Radian RF for the baby, and get her a combo seat? I haven't verified, but I would guess Mom wants her harnessed still. I'm not sure this would last them any longer than the Radian, or that they'd honestly need the booster capability, since oldest child probably can't buckle herself. If this, which seat?
Based on our past interactions, this mom will do whatever I suggest to her, so I want to make sure to suggest the right thing. Thoughts? Prius owners, which would you choose?
