If you have questions about child restraints for children with special needs, this is the place. Relevant topics would be regarding restraint systems and transportation issues for any children with medical issues that may not allow them to use conventional child restraints. This includes premature and very low birth weight newborns, children in casts, children with behavioral issues and children with various postural or movement disorders or other conditions.

Certified Technicians who have taken the "Safe Travel for All Children: Transporting Children with Special Health Care Needs" course will assist with responses.

For local help, please consult the database of certified child passenger safety technicians who have taken this special needs course:

This is great :)

Is there anyway we could have a thread that shows where Special Needs Training courses are occurring?

I keep trying to keep my eyes peeled, but have yet to find a master list of all the courses in the US.

Would questions about restraining children on school buses also be best in this forum? I am just thinking that, since alot of the children that need to be restrained on buses have some sort of special need.

Description under the title of the subforum is:

Is that only for special needs questions involving those things, or are all general school bus, public transport questions to go here?
All of the above. I'll try to make the description clearer. I would have made separate forums for each, but since they would all be low volume, I decided to group special transportation issues altogether.

Okay, good to know, thank you for the clarification.

I think this is an excellent idea for a subforum. That's not brown nosing either. ;)

I'm annoyed at myself that I didn't think of it years ago. Or, if it was suggested, that I didn't listen to it.
Aw well, live and learn. It's here now.

It would nice to have an article, or a sticky, or something with FAQs about school buses. Almost everytime a bus crashes, we get a flurry of parents worried sick, because buses usually have no seat belts, etc.

I know every time the topic is brought up, it's thoroughly answered, it would be nice to have it in one spot. If there already is one, forgive me, as I seem to have lost my ability to search and actually FIND things.

Hi Darren - can you add something in the first post of this thread to make it clear that this forum is for -all- questions about car seats and other transportation? I thought it might be, but then I read the first post and thought I was wrong (special needs only), but then once people started posting here I read the comments and saw that in fact it is for all questions on that topic after all. Adding that to the first post might help confused people like me. :)
