Untethered Radian outboard vs. Tethered Scenera center

I have an untethered radian outboard, and a tethered scenera next to it in the center. If these were your options for your 34lb 4 year old, which would you prefer he sit in, and why? These are the options I have for Gambit and I'm not sure if one is better or worse than the other. No other options are available. I have to do a 3 across and these would be the only seats he could sit in.

If he still fit height-wise, the tethered scenera. Because I'd prefer my child in a tethered seat over an untethered seat FFing. Any chance he would fit RFing in the radian?

There is evidence that center is safer than outboard, and there is evidence that tethered is safer than untethered. There is no evidence (and no reason to believe, IME/IMO) that a Radian is safer than a Scenera. I'd go center tethered without a second thought.

Yes, he fits RF, but the radian doesn't fit in the 3 across I need when RF. I hate that darn scenera, but I figured it was/is the better choice. I have to put the DCK in the radian though. I so wish I had more top tether anchors.

I agree... center properly installed is safer over side properly installed AND tethered is safer than non tethered... not that I wouldn't still start squirreling for a bigger seat (for when he outgrows it)
