Two infants and RF convertible in Telluride?

Three Under Three

Guest
Can anyone tell us how best to fit two infant seats and a RF (preferably) convertible in a Telluride? Would captains seats or the bench be better? Also, how would this look with three RF convertibles a year from now?

Thank you so much! We would like to buy one soon but don’t want to make a $40k mistake.

Hello,

I can't give you specifics as I have not put 3-across in a Telluride. Midsize SUVs in general do allow some configurations on bench seats. Most likely, you will need a narrow seat in the middle, like a Graco SlimFit3 LX (not to be confused with the original SlimFit). https://amzn.to/3mB36eU

Captain's chairs in midsize SUVs are rarely an issue with any car seat. Of course, this would leave you with one in the third row that will be limited in front-to-back space. Many third row center seats are very problematic, which sometimes means either the driver or passenger side only for a car seat.

Is there any chance your dealer or a nearby one has one on the lot or maybe as a loaner/service vehicle for you to try in person? This would be important especially for the bench seat option as the middle seat can be problematic with some car seats and 3-across setups.

SafeDad gives excellent advice as usual. In your specific case, I would recommend a bench option over a captain's chair option since you want all 3 kiddos rear-facing. Practically speaking, it'll be the easiest. If you can't find a Telluride to try your carseats out in locally, try a Hyundai Pallisade since they're sibling vehicles.

Would you consider the Carnival? The adjustable second row center (if you go bench) is sick convenient for this kind of thing, it looks good, has better access for loading and unloading, and tows a fair bit too. Cause yea, I'd go three across too, and that means bench.

Size wise I can tell you my daughter has a telly and they are plenty wide for 3 across, but of course you're always going to fight clearance and etc at the center buckles It looks some years away before any are able to get themselves in and out, but it's worth considering too, and here again the Carnival would be a better choice.

Finally, if you can I'd wait to see what the next model year brings. Telly's eat fuel, and PHEV's are coming fast in that space. Or go Highlander, which isn't as big as the Telly but my goodness the resale and fuel efficiency.

Luck to you!
