Question two car seat vehicles

Hi,
I am expecting my second baby and I will be looking for a new vehicle that can fit two car seats in the back plus seat an adult comfortably in the middle seat when necessary. I would like to avoid getting a big SUV so I am wondering what vehicles easily work for this situation without being a huge vehicle. I would have an infant car seat and a forward facing toddler car seat. Thanks for your help.

Do you want an SUV or were you hoping to avoid an SUV? Or is it just that you want to avoid a huge SUV?

If you want a car, look for something with a wide back seat. Like a Chevy Impala, Toyota Avalon, or maybe a Buick Lucerne. Not sure if that's too big a car for you but those will definitely fit an adult and two seats.

What type of vehicle are you hoping to get? Small SUV / crossover, sedan, compact car?

Bear in mind that it's not just the car that matters here. Narrower car seats can go a long way toward making that center seat usable.

I find the centre seat almost always sucks for adults. Especially when you have to climb by car seats to get to it. The centre is often narrow, may be raised from the outboard seats and the headrest often does not raise as high as the outboard seats (and is often smaller overall) so isn't talk enough to provide any useful support for an adult.

If the adult is going to be riding often enough, I'd probably put one car seat in the centre and one outboard so the adult can get in and out easier and have an easier to use seating position. When putting the centre child in their seat, the adult doing so can sit outboard to get the child in so there's no leaning involved.

Of course there are exceptions to centre seats, just don't be surprised if they aren't like outboard seats.
