True fit issues?

It is the iAlert one, mfr date January 2013. I did notice the slits, but the instructions just talk about peeling back the cover. I will try it that way!

Yes,the lockoffs are easy to reach with just the cover slits. Does it still have a 7 year life span? DD2's spare seat expires next year. I'd be tempted to get one so that I'd have it later to ff her in, too, . . . I'll rf her to 4-5 and then booster her when she's 6-7, so a 2013 dom would be perfect . . .

I don't have an ialert one but have the true fit premier. I loved it as a rfing seat (so much leg room!) but unfortunately my son is huge so outgrew the weight limit by 18 months. I recently pulled it out again as a ffing seat temporarily. I'm used to using a radian so the high sides are driving me crazy trying to hoist my kid in and out of it. I find the lock offs easy to access but it's an extra step that can be annoying. I prefer to not have lock offs on a seat. I also had issues in one position in my car with the seat belt fold sitting right where the lock off is making it incompatible.

I think I like it! It fits in the center position. I like it in the center because there is no head rest there, so I can actually fit people in all seating positions. It doesn't block my rear view with the headrest on. The only other seats with ARBs and lockoffs blocked my rear view significantly with the headrest raised even part of the way. It leaves a gap that lets me check my blind spot on the passenger side. The lockoffs are compatible with my car, not even the button got in the way. I can fit the neighbor kid's booster on one side. If I use it FF, it would still not block my view. V will fit with the headrest off for a while longer, and in that mode not even my side view is obstructed. V fits in the harness well. Seems to have good legroom.

The downsides are: I can't snap the cover back down once it is installed. It is two years old already, so will have to buy a different FF harnessed seat. The crotch strap seems to be kind of short. The cover is hand wash only, but I figure I might be able to get away with a gentle machine cycle in my HE washer.

Mine has been washed on gentle and hung to dry several times. It still looks great.

Yes, it is 7 years. Expiration date on seat is 1/15/2020. Thanks for pointing that out. It means it will last until V is 5.5!

I have a regular top loaded with agitator so I know it's risky but I use the delicate cycle and wash all my covers, and none of mine are technically machine wash safe. Britax and the true fit. And they are fine.

I liked the TF Premier for rear facing but hate it forward facing.IMO the lock off for foward facing is a pain to install. I still have the True Fit in storage and it doesnt expire until 2018.
