Traveling to Mexico; Carseat help needed

Hello!

I will be flying to Mexico in October this year. I don't see how we can lug our Symphony, XTSL, and Frontier 85 SICT (plus three kids and luggage) to Mexico just for one short taxi ride to and from the airport to the hotel. We won't be using a car otherwise.

Would it be ok to use a backless booster for the two older kids? They will be 6.5 years old (low forty pounds) and one month shy of 4 years old (mid-thirty pounds), both very mature.

Maybe a backless and the harmony folding booster. I'd worry about lack of shoulder belts and head rests in Mexico.

I personally would not take a booster for the 4 yo since he is below 40#. I know you mentioned it is a short drive but accidents can happen on a short drive. If I were you and depending on your budget I would buy a bubble bum for your 6.5yo and a maestro for your 4yo that you can strap to either your carry on luggage or a small luggage cart (walmart sells some) that even your 4yo could pull (mine does :)). Now if indeed there are no shoulder belt in Mexico I would also take a maestro for you 6.5.... Just to be on the safe side. We have traveled with 3 car seats and 5 kids and while I wouldn't do it everyday it is doable with a «little» organization... I hope this helps!

My budget is pretty much nothing, so I'm hoping to borrow the seats :( (and yes the entire trip to Mexico is gifted to us)

I understand... In that case I would probably take the seats that you have. I wouldn't use boosters if there is no shoulder belt... Enjoy your trip!!

We just got back from a trip to Cozumel. We had to argue a bunch with the taxi union to give us a vehicle that had three functioning shoulder belts in the backseats.

As much as it sucks - I would consider taking the XT for the 4 year old. That way, if you end up with a limited number of shoulder belts, you can use a lap belt for this seat.

We took an RSTV for my son who is the same age and it worked fine, but I ended up needing more shoulder belts and hence the taxi driver argument.
