Oh, dear! What did you say to her?
I told her that rear-facing absolutely IS safer and as I was about to launch into a spiel about internal decapitation and all that stuff, the door opened and someone else walked in and I never got a chance to complete it.
I ultimately complained to the clinic. Told them that I didn't want to get anyone into trouble but some of the information they were giving out was out of date and potentially inaccurate and that maybe it would be in everyone's best interest if the doctors were a little more educated in that regard since a lot of people do JUST what the doctor says.
(Reminds me of an instance at Walmart a week ago. Peanut of a kid getting a backless booster. I had to say something. The mom's response was, "His doctor said it's okay.")
Anyway, the clinic was pretty receptive. The person responding to my emails said that education is one of their primary missions and she forwarded my message to a tech on staff who will hopefully work with the pediatrics department--maybe revise their handout to include more accurate information.
If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. All I could do was try. In the meantime, I'm grateful for having a friend who's a tech. She patiently explained things and helped me understand and she corrected my mistakes and I know that when I put my daughter into the car, she's as safe as possible.
