Shoulder Strap cutting into neck

We have the Nissan NV Passenger Van which has shoulder straps in each seat, however, the shoulder strap is connected right next to the head rest (on the seat back top) making for a very, very narrow fit. My oldest is close to being out of a LBB, but there is no way the shoulder strap will ever fit without rubbing on his neck. What I am wondering is, would adding a seat belt adjuster be safe? If so, do you have a recommendation of one? Thanks!

A lot of backless boosters come with an adjuster strap to fix that issue :) if your high back booster converts to a backless it might come with one too.

Yes, we have that for the LBB, but he is almost out of it. I'm wondering about the situation when he moves to just sitting on the regular seat.

Maybe you could use a Safety 1st Incognito, which is like after a booster but simply realigns the seat belt to a better fit.

Incognito doesn't move the shoulder strap away from the neck, though.
Maybe a much taller high back would work? Boost Air or Parkway are tall, that gives a little more time for torso growth and shoulder widening. I've given up on some seatbelts, they just rub necks regardless, as long as kids don't put it behind their back, it's not dangerous.
