Seats that will fit well in a Kia Niro EV

Hello, I am finally ready to bite the bullet and get a second set of seats for our other car. The kia Niro ev is very small and I'm having a tough time deciding which seat fits our needs best. My kids are 3 (3'2" and 33lbs 8oz) and 4.5 (3'4" and 35lbs 12.8oz). I already have two evenflo everystage dlxs. I am looking for something that is better quality that these, safer, and hopefully a little smaller. I would love to have them rear facing for as long as possible, but it is a very tight fit in this car and is very uncomfortable for the adults on longer drives, so I think we will most likely have them forward facing.

The problem I am running into is that I either buy seats that are more geared towards their sizes now and buy boosters later on, or I buy all in ones, which I have seen some negative things about. Which would you do?

Things I am looking for:
-SAFE! (obviously includes fitting in the car well and being easy to use)
-Can fit next to each other or leave enough room for an adult to sit between them
-Easy to remove covers for washing (if possible)
-Will be able to use for my kids for a reasonable amount of time for the price
-Non toxic (I understand that this can be very expensive and that safety in a crash is probably more important)

Hi. I would definitely steer you toward buying something that fits them well now and look at dedicated boosters later on (and I don't work for a carseat company, lol). You're right that all-in-ones tend to be difficult to use when it comes to the booster stage. They sit higher up, so they're harder to buckle, especially for a new booster user. And the shoulder belt guide is generally only an inch higher than the top harness slot, so they are outgrown pretty quickly. I'd consider them to be great harnessed seats and hey-I've-got-a-booster-if-I-need-one seats.

Thank you! That is helpful. I am going back and forth on whether to forward face. I keep seeing things that say how much safer it is to be rear facing. Do you have any opinions on that? If I want to stick with rear-facing as long as possible, would you still recommend the same ones?

Hi there, we purchased the Chicco my fit and then almost got in a head on collision when another driver crossed the double yellow on a 4 lane highway. It has me rethinking my decision. Which seats would you recommend for them rear facing as long as possible?

If you want extended rear facing seats that fit next to each other, you could check out the Clek Foonf or Fllo or the Graco SlimFit3 LX.

That said, I want to reassure you that at your children's ages, forward facing in a properly used, properly installed seat is a very safe choice and still very protective in a crash.
