Safety 1st onside air on United Flight

I'm hoping to hear if anyone has flown with a Safety 1st onside air convertible seat on United. I just ordered one based on a recommendation here. I also called united to get seat dimensions. It took an hour but they gave me seat dimensions. They said 17.2 wide. When I ordered the seat in said 17 wide on Amazon but on another site 17.5... oy! Also any advice other than printing out the FFA rules?
thanks so much in adcancer :)

There have been several reports here about successfully using the Onside Air on various planes (though not necessarily United) -- perhaps you saw those.

See for example this thread, post #18:

I would not worry about the slight difference between the airplane seat width and the carseat's width; if necessary, you can always lift the armrest to create additional space. And although seating styles and configurations do vary from airline to airline, the seat width (in coach/economy) is almost always within a fairly small range of about 16.5" to 18" wide.

In addition to FAA guidance (Advisory Circular 120-87B or some of the shorter summaries) it can sometimes help to bring a copy of the airline's own carseat policy from their website. You should be fine on United.
