Recaro Probooster - no "recline" bar?

New member
After a lot of waffling, I ordered a Probooster for my son. I got it from Albee Baby, and since it was down to $89 I figured it might have an older DOM. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it is only two months old (April 2013 DOM). I had read that it has a bar at the base that flips up or down to better fit the contour of the seat. When I pulled it out of the box, I didn't see it, but figured I was just . . . missing it somehow? I scoured the manual and there is no mention of it. On the Probooster page on the Recaro website it still mentions the "QuickFlip recline bar".

Did they do away with it recently? Seems weird to redesign when they have a new version coming out soon . . .

Yes, unfortunatley they are not including it on newer seats. Ours is the same way. I called customer service and they told me not many people used it, so to save some money they stopped putting them on. It is the same shell though, so if you'd like one, you can call and request one free of charge that will snap in place where it should have been.

It's a weird bar. It doesn't recline the seat. You just flip it up or down, depending on how the booster fits the vehicle seat.

I have an older one and it didn't recline the seat much, if at all. I love my ProBooster; that's why it is still sitting in my basement without a cover on even though its was crashed. :(
