Ratcheting harness adjusters

New member
What exactly is it? When I hear "ratcheting," I think of truck tie downs. Is it where each pull on a strap will only pull so far before you have to release and pull again? Because that's not how my Radian is...

Yes. I find my Radian will pull all the excess slack out with one smooth pull, but if I have to tighten it, it is a ratcheting motion.

That's exactly how mine is. I was just wondering if there were two versions of "ratcheting," where one is as I described, with clicking sounds (just because that's what I always think when someone says "ratcheting").

I can also get it all the way right in one pull if I pull from behind first. I'm not sure what's at work with the multiple pulls.

Mine adjusts in the same manner.

I am borrowing a Radian XTSL and at 1st I hated the pull, pull motion needed to tighten the seat, but now that I'm use to it, it's really assuring to me as it seems tighter than my other seats with normal harness pulls. It's just different.

All of ours are Radian XTSL and I only don't like it of grandparents try to tighten it, b/c they seem to think that when it stops pulling, then that's it, even if it should be cranked down a little more.
