Quick HBTB question

I haven't used mine that much and I put in on the higher arm setting for Hannah when I got it, which worked fine for her. I'm giving it to a friend that has a tiny 5 year old. She'll be six in June. I'm wondering, how does moving the arms to the lower level affect fit?

How tiny? I've always had it on the highest position for Megan, even when she first started using it occasionally, with excellent belt fit. I think you'd only need the lowest position for a <40lb kid, or one that was especially tiny in the hips.
Part of the reason I put it in the higher adjustment is that it would be crazy hard to buckle with the armrest lower, which I felt would increase the potential for misrouting (we started boostering in FIL's car first, and he follows the rules but I wanted simple!).

I used the higher setting for an almost 5 year old who wasn't quite 40 pounds and the fit was great.

I use it on the lower setting for a 55ish lb 7.5 yo and the fit is great. Higher would allow the belt to ride up WAY too high on the tummy for us. Probably has something to do with the belt geometry.

Thanks. I'll tell her to try it the way it is and show her how it should be. And stress screws if she has to lower it! Her dd is probably under 40 lbs. She's always been little - started out 4 lbs when full term and just stayed tiny. They didn't know why she was so IUGR.
